Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has arrived in Akwa Ibom State for the launch of the “Renewed Hope Initiative Agricultural Support Programme for Women from the South-South Geo-Political Zone of the country.
The First Lady represented by the Wife of the Vice President, Hajia Nana Shettima is joined by Wives of Governors from the South-South Zone with Wife of Akwa Ibom State, Governor Pastor Pastor Umo Eno as chief host.
The event, which is held at the Government House, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State has delegates drawn from the Niger Delta States, including Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Rivers, Edo, Cross River, and Delta.
Renewed Hope Initiative, a pet project of the First Lady is aimed at empowering Nigerian women at the grassroots to be economically self-reliant in diverse ways, such as agriculture, and Small and Medium-Scale Enterprises among others.
The Six States are expected to get N10 million each for the women agricultural ventures.
