FCT police arrest sisters, accomplices for faking kidnap to extort father

Date:

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested two sisters and their accomplices for staging a fake kidnapping in a bid to extort ₦5 million from their father.

According to the police, 16-year-old Lead Way Innocent was initially reported missing after she left home to sit for an exam. However, she was later found relaxing at a residence in Jikwoyi during a rescue operation by police operatives.

Investigations revealed that the kidnapping was orchestrated by her older sister, Joy Innocent, in collaboration with her married boyfriend, Mayowa Adedeji, and his wife. The younger sister, Lead Way, was fully aware of the plot and had willingly gone into hiding while the family was left traumatized and scrambling to raise the ransom.

All four suspects are now in police custody and have reportedly confessed to the crime.

FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Ajao Adewale, described the incident as shocking and deeply troubling. He urged parents to cultivate open lines of communication with their children and warned that anyone who abuses family trust for criminal purposes would face severe legal consequences.
