Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal College of Education (FCE), Iwo, Dr. Adeniyi Olatunde Adenuga, has reaffirmed the Council’s dedication to fostering growth, stability, and academic excellence through strategic oversight and constructive collaboration with the college’s management.

Addressing members during a formal council engagement, Dr. Adenuga described the institution’s development as a shared responsibility and called for unity in fulfilling its mandate, especially as a relatively young federal college.
He acknowledged his recent redeployment to FCE Iwo from Akoka and expressed readiness to work with all stakeholders to position the institution as a beacon of teacher education and innovation in Nigeria.
While affirming that daily administrative duties remain under the purview of the Provost and the management team, Dr. Adenuga stressed that the Council will uphold transparency, due process, and adherence to existing laws guiding Federal Colleges of Education. He further noted the Council’s duty to demand a conducive learning environment, improved staff and student welfare, and value-for-money in all projects.
Dr. Adenuga also raised concerns about low student enrollment and the persistent negative public perception of Colleges of Education. He referenced a government directive, dated February 6, 2025, which warned that institutions failing to enroll at least 1,000 students within three years may be delisted from accessing TETFund interventions. He urged the management to adopt creative strategies to boost enrollment and public confidence.
He commended the institution for its performance in the recent accreditation exercise but emphasized that the achievement should serve as a springboard for further efforts to expand academic offerings and improve the quality of graduates.
Highlighting the need for consistent staff training, he directed the management to identify skill gaps and implement development programs for both academic and non-teaching personnel to enhance institutional productivity.
Dr. Adenuga also called for sustained attention to environmental hygiene across both campuses and encouraged harmonious relationships between the Council, management, staff, students, and the wider educational community.
He concluded by stating that only through collaboration—not competition—can FCE Iwo realize its vision and become a vibrant hub of excellence for future generations.
