Environmental Orgainzation, Clean-Up Nigeria Declares Akwa Ibom the Cleanest State in Nigeria

Akwa Ibom State has emerged as the cleanest state in Nigeria for the sixth consecutive time, with an overall cumulative score of 72 percent in the year 2023.

The award was presented in Uyo, the state capital, by Clean-up Nigeria, after her State of Nigeria Environment tagged S.T.O.N.E Pro Max 2023 five-year circus review from 2018 to 2022.

The President of Clean-up Nigeria, Prince Ene Baba Owo said the criteria were simple, as Akwa Ibom won the award after a review of its five-year performance from 2018 to 2022.

The Chairman of Akwa Ibom State Environmental Protection and Waste Management Agency, Prince Akpan Ikim, said the agency is going green with new environmental policies as he sees the award as a call for more work.

The award considered streets/roads cleanliness, vegetation/drainage control, waste management services, public opinion poll, knowledge, attitude, and practice on hygiene and sanitation of the people.
