The wife of the governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Patience Umo Eno, has charged Akwa Ibom citizens to uphold the state’s cultural legacy for unborn generations.
Pastor Patience Eno stated this during the lively cultural heritage showcased by the people Mkpat Enin Local Government Area, at the ongoing Akwa Ibom Christmas celebration tagged: “Christmas unplugged.”
The first lady expressed contentment over the beautiful displays of culture, sumptuous delicacies, and the exhibition of raw food items by the Mkpat Enin people.
She reflected on the ‘Mbopo’ display by the people noting that the exhibition reminded her of the care provided to nursing mothers in the past, emphasizing that the event has revived Mkpat Enin’s culture, heritage, and traditions.
The Transition Chairman of Mkpat Enin, Lady Mercy Bassey, highlighted the significance of Christmas unplugged in fostering unity and providing an opportunity for the community to rediscover its rich cultural heritage and emphasized the event’s impact on awakening the history of Mkpat Enin for the younger generation.
In large numbers, the people of Mkpat Enin came out to celebrate their day, showcasing traditional activities such as palm wine tapping, presentation of traditional cultural heritage, historical artifacts, and delicacies unique to Mkpat Enin.
