Edo Queens Triumph 5-0 in CAF Women’s Champions League Opener

Nigerian champions Edo Queens delivered a commanding five- nil victory over AS GNN of Niger Republic in their Group B opener of the CAF Women’s Champions League WAFU B qualifying tournament on Sunday in Ivory Coast.

The breakthrough came in the 36th minute with a stunning team goal, finished off by Emem Essien, who drove the ball into the net, leaving AS GNN’s defense in disarray.

Just before halftime, Suliat Abideen extended the lead with a penalty kick after being fouled in the box.

In the second half, Edo Queens maintained their dominance with additional goals from Blessing Ilivieda, Esther Moses, and Joy Jerry, sealing a resounding victory for the Nigerian side.

In the other Group B match, A. O. Etincelle of Burkina Faso and Hasaacas Ladies of Ghana played to a goalless draw in a tightly contested game.
