Legacy FM, a private radio station in Ebonyi State, has lifted the suspension of its acting General Manager, Odoh Godfrey Chikwere, who was accused of criticising Governor Francis Nwifuru.
The management announced on Monday evening that Chikwere had been directed to resume duties with immediate effect from Tuesday, August 12, 2025. His suspension, issued on Saturday, August 9, 2025, followed alleged criticisms he made against the governor’s administration both on air and via his social media accounts on Friday, August 8, 2025.
According to the station, the suspension was based on “unruly behaviour” and a breach of its code of conduct. The initial statement had directed Chikwere to hand over all company property to the next senior officer.
In his Facebook post preceding the suspension, Chikwere alleged that the Nwifuru administration suffered from poor communication, underperforming appointees, and a lack of clear policy direction. He advised the governor to “step on toes to achieve results,” warning that the current state of affairs was eroding his support base.
Reacting to the allegations, the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Monday Uzor, dismissed the claims as unfounded and accused Chikwere of ingratitude, citing government support to the station, including the provision of a new SUV, a transformer, and the construction of the road leading to its premises.
