Dangote Refinery Accuses PENGASSAN Of Lies, Intimidation Tactics

Date:

Dangote Refinery has accused the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) of spreading falsehoods and using intimidation tactics to disrupt its operations.

In a statement titled “Lawless PENGASSAN – Its Lies and Terror Tactics”, the company said the union had embarked on a campaign of misinformation aimed at destabilising its workforce and disrupting production.

“PENGASSAN has chosen to peddle falsehoods and spread propaganda with the sole aim of tarnishing our reputation and inciting unrest among our employees,” the refinery said.

It alleged that the union was attempting to destabilise the refinery through coercion. “Their method is nothing short of intimidation, designed to instil fear and exert undue pressure on our staff,” the statement added.

Dangote Refinery maintained it would continue to uphold lawful labour practices and resist what it described as bullying. “We will continue to uphold the rule of law and resist any attempt by PENGASSAN to derail the progress of this refinery,” it stressed.

The company accused the union of deliberately undermining industrial harmony for selfish purposes, warning that such actions threatened not just the company but Nigeria’s broader economic stability.

“We cannot allow a handful of individuals hiding under the guise of unionism to sabotage a national asset of this magnitude,” the statement read.

Dangote Refinery said it had consistently engaged with stakeholders in good faith and would remain open to genuine dialogue but warned it would not allow intimidation or misinformation to derail its mandate.

“We urge Nigerians to see through the lies and propaganda of PENGASSAN and recognise the refinery’s commitment to building an industry that benefits all,” it added.
