CAF Inspectors to Evaluate Nigerian Stadiums for Interclub Competitions

Date:

A team of inspectors from the Confederation of African Football, CAF, are scheduled to arrive in the country next week to assess the venues of four Nigerian clubs registered for the CAF interclub competitions in the 2024/25 season.

President of Nigeria Football Federation, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, revealed this during the Annual General Meeting of the Nigeria Premier Football League.

Alhaji Gusau emphasized that the Federation aims to ascertain additional stadiums approved following the visit, alongside the already accredited Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.

He clarified that CAF’s restrictions on Nigerian stadiums for national team matches, except for the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, stem from non-compliance with CAF standards.

Nigeria’s representation in the upcoming CAF Champions League will feature league winners Rangers International of Enugu and Remo Stars of Ikenne, while El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri and Enyimba International of Aba will compete in the Confederation Cup.

Previously, concerns lingered over whether the four clubs would be compelled to host all their home matches at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo due to their respective stadiums not meeting CAF requirements.
