CAF Delists Libya vs Nigeria 2025 AFCON Qualifiers from Matchday 4 Fixtures

Date:

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially delisted the second-leg fixture of the 2025 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier between Nigeria’s Super Eagles and Libya’s Mediterranean Knights.

Originally set for 8 p.m. in Libya, the match follows Nigeria’s 1-0 victory in the first leg at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Friday. However, controversy arose after the Super Eagles experienced over 12 hours of distress at a Libyan airport, prompting the team to return home.

CAF has launched an investigation into the incident, following allegations of sabotage by the Libyan Football Federation, which is also considering legal action against Nigeria.

CAF’s schedule update on its X handle no longer includes the Nigeria-Libya match.
