CAF Appoints Josephine Wanjiku as Referee for Nigeria vs South Africa U-17 World Cup Qualifier

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed Kenyan official Josephine Wanjiku as the referee for next week’s FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup qualifier between Nigeria’s Flamingos and South Africa. The match is scheduled for Saturday, 8th March, at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria.

Nigeria, the 2022 FIFA World Cup bronze medalists, received a bye to the second round, while South Africa advanced after a dominant 21-2 aggregate victory over Gabon, winning 12-1 in Gabon and 9-1 at home.

The return leg will be held on Saturday, 15th March, at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne-Remo. The winner on aggregate will advance to the third round of the qualification campaign.

This year’s FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup will be hosted by Morocco from 17th October to 8th November, with five African teams set to participate.
