Senator Suleiman Summaila Kawu (Kano South) has defected from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Senate President Godswill Akpabio read Kawu’s defection letter during Wednesday’s plenary session, in which the lawmaker cited internal divisions and multiple court cases within the NNPP as reasons for his move.
The switch further strengthens the APC’s majority in the Senate. More details to follow.
