Bayelsa Retains Top Spot at NSF Gateway Games with 30 Gold Medals

Bayelsa State continues to dominate the medals table at the ongoing National Sports Festival (NSF), tagged Gateway Games 2024, currently being held in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Five days into the multi-sport event, Team Bayelsa has secured a commanding lead with 30 gold, 12 silver, and 13 bronze medals, placing it comfortably ahead of its closest rivals.

According to the official NSF medals table, Delta State ranks second with 21 gold, nine silver, and 26 bronze medals, while Rivers State is in third place with 11 gold, 10 silver, and 10 bronze medals.

Oyo State occupies the fourth position with 10 gold, eight silver, and 13 bronze medals, and Lagos State rounds out the top five with nine gold, nine silver, and 18 bronze medals.

In total, 420 medals have been awarded so far across various sports disciplines as athletes from across the country compete for national glory.

The festival, which serves as Nigeria’s premier grassroots sporting event, continues to highlight emerging talent and state-level athletic development.
