Bauchi Gov. Bala Mohammed defends carrying of arms by herdsmen

Date:

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has said herdsmen can carry AK-47 rifle for self-defence because they are being attacked by cattle rustlers.
Governor Mohammed made the statement at the closing ceremony of the 2021 Press Week of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Bauchi State Council.

He slammed his counterpart in Benue State, Samuel Ortom, over his handling of the farmer-herder clashes which had led to loss of lives.
He faulted the notice to quit given to herdsmen in some southern states, particularly Ondo state, pointing out that the moves of the southern governors are wrong.
