Barcelona goalkeeper and captain Marc-Andre ter Stegen underwent successful knee surgery on Monday after suffering a ruptured patella tendon during a league match on Sunday.
The Germany international was stretchered off in the first half after his right knee buckled while landing after catching the ball.
Although no official timeline has been provided for the 32-year-old’s recovery, Spanish media reports suggest he could be sidelined for at least seven months.
Since joining the club in 2014, Ter Stegen has made over 400 appearances for the Spanish giants.
