ARTETA CRITICIZES ARSENAL’S DEFENSIVE LAPSES AFTER 1-1 DRAW WITH CHELSEA

Date:

Mikel Arteta has insisted that Arsenal cannot accept the defensive standards that allowed Chelsea to equalize in their 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

Pedro Neto fired a long-range shot past Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya in the 82nd minute, just 10 minutes after Gabriel Martinelli had given the Gunners the lead.

Arteta, whose side dominated possession throughout the match, pointed to the defensive lapse that led to Neto’s equalizer as a key frustration.

Despite Chelsea registering 17 shots, Arteta was adamant that Arsenal should have secured all three points.

With the draw, Arsenal extended their winless streak in the Premier League to four matches, marking their longest such run since April 2023.
