Arsenal made a stunning start to the 2026/27 season with a dominant 3-0 victory over Manchester City in the FA Community Shield at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium.
The Gunners needed just 30 seconds to take the lead, with Riccardo Calafiori finishing expertly from Myles Lewis-Skelly’s reverse pass.
Arsenal continued to dominate and doubled their advantage in the 28th minute. Christos Tzolis cushioned a header into the path of Kai Havertz, who nodded home.
City threatened a response before half-time, with Erling Haaland denied by Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya. Arsenal almost added a third before the break, but Martin Odegaard’s effort was cleared off the line by Josko Gvardiol.
Odegaard would not be denied, however, as the Arsenal captain made it 3-0 within three minutes of the restart after producing a clever dummy to deceive new City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, before rolling the ball into an empty net.
