The Anambra State Police Command has initiated a manhunt for the murderers of three children belonging to a native doctor in Nise, Awka South Local Government Area.
The tragic incident occurred at the family’s residence, where unidentified assailants reportedly scaled the fence to gain entry, killed the children, and left their bodies inside a parked Mercedes Benz car within the compound.
According to reports, the gruesome act happened on Saturday night, but it was reported to the police on Sunday. The children, aged between two and six years, were found with their mouths tied and lying in pools of blood.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the murder may be linked to unresolved disputes involving the children’s father, who is a native doctor and businessman. However, the police have yet to confirm this claim.
A source familiar with the family said the father often locked the children in the compound while he and their mother went out for business. Whether his routine or alleged disagreements with certain individuals may have contributed to the tragedy remains unclear.
The father of the victims has declined to comment on the incident.
Confirming the development, the spokesperson for the state police command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said, “We received a report from the Divisional Police Officer about the killing of three siblings by unknown assailants. Their bodies were found in a parked Mercedes Benz car within the compound.
“Police operatives have visited the scene and evacuated the corpses. We’ve interacted with residents in the area and the children’s father. The information gathered is aiding our efforts to track down the culprits.
“We are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, including whether negligence by their father played a role or whether the suspects had other motives. The outcome of the investigation will be made public as soon as it is concluded.”
The police assured the public of their commitment to uncovering the truth and bringing the perpetrators to justice. Residents have been urged to cooperate with law enforcement by providing any information that could assist the investigation.
