Amotekun Rescues Five Kidnap Victims in Ondo, Foils N150 Million Ransom Demand

Date:

The Western Nigeria Security Network (Amotekun) in Ondo State has successfully rescued five kidnap victims in separate operations, preventing the payment of N150 million in ransom demands. According to State Commander Adetunji Adeleye, four victims were abducted along the Lagos-Ore Expressway on May 10, with their captors demanding N100 million, while a fifth victim was taken on May 6 along the Ikare-Owo Road with a N50 million ransom demand.

Amotekun operatives, acting on distress calls and intelligence, swiftly mobilized to track and rescue all victims without any ransom payment. The fifth victim, who sustained machete wounds during the abduction, is currently receiving medical treatment at an Amotekun facility. Adeleye credited the successful operations to round-the-clock patrols, forest ranger deployments, and the state government’s mandate allowing security forces to pursue criminals into forest areas.

The commander reaffirmed Amotekun’s commitment to maintaining zero tolerance for crime in Ondo State, warning kidnappers to steer clear of the region. He urged residents to continue reporting suspicious activities through the security network’s emergency channels, assuring confidentiality and prompt response to all credible information. These latest rescues bring to 17 the number of successful hostage recoveries made by Amotekun in Ondo State since the beginning of 2025.
