Uyo, Nigeria – Akwa United strengthened their fight against relegation with a commanding 2-0 away win over Kwara United in a Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) clash on Sunday. The victory, secured at the Kwara Sports Complex, marks the club’s first away triumph of the 2024-25 season.
Winger Osoba Kabir opened the scoring in the first half before forward Uche Sabastine sealed the three points with a second-half strike. The result lifts Akwa United from 19th to 17th in the league standings, providing a much-needed boost in their battle to remain in the top flight.
Having also defeated Kwara United earlier in the season, Akwa United completed a league double over their opponents. The club now sits on 34 points after 30 matches.
