Akwa Ibom State Government says it has invested huge resources to see that nursing education and other health institutions in the state meet the current trends.
Commissioner for Health, Prof. Augustine Vincent Umoh, stated this while playing host to federal government delegation from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), and the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) accreditation teams who were on a tour of the State College of Nursing Sciences to ensure that technical and vocational education and training institutions adhere to national standards.
Prof. Umoh expressed confidence that the team, at the end of the inspection, would affirm that the institutions were ready for accreditation.
Also speaking, his education counterpart, Mrs. Idongesit Etiebet thanked the Governor, Pastor Umo Eno for the progressive investment in the educational sector of the State and enumerated some of the strides of his administration noting that the nursing education would enjoy no less attention.
The team lead, Alhaji Samalia Tanko, in his reaction, agreed that the government of Akwa Ibom State was committed to nursing education and observed that the State had the highest number of nursing institutions to be upgraded all at once.
