As Akwa Ibom State marks its 37th anniversary, Governor Umo Eno, alongside his wife, Pastor (Mrs.) Patience Umo Eno extended heartfelt congratulations to the people of the state.
In his anniversary address, Governor Eno attributed the state’s progress to God’s grace and the vision of past leaders, thanking them for transforming Akwa Ibom into a “Shining City on the Hill.”
Highlighting key achievements, Governor Eno noted the state’s third-largest GDP in Nigeria, robust infrastructure, and peace that has fostered development. He praised past governors, from Arc. Obong Victor Attah to Mr. Udom Emmanuel, for laying a strong foundation in areas such as infrastructure, aviation (Ibom Air), and economic growth.
In his address, Governor Eno outlined his administration’s focus on agriculture, youth empowerment, education, and rural development. He emphasized ongoing agricultural projects and called on citizens to return to farming, promising support through the state’s AK-Cares initiative. He also highlighted the Arise Agenda’s success in infrastructure, with 147 road projects initiated and several already completed.
Governor Eno further praised President Bola Tinubu for fostering non-partisan collaboration and assured citizens of continued partnership with the federal government to overcome economic challenges. He reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to providing quality healthcare, launching the Arisecare Health Insurance Scheme, and boosting security through the Ibom Community Watch program.
In closing, Governor Eno called for unity and compassion among citizens, urging them to work together for the state’s continued prosperity. He reassured the people of his commitment to peace, inclusiveness, and progress as he led the state toward a brighter future.
“Happy 37th Anniversary, Akwa Ibom!” the Governor concluded, inviting all citizens to celebrate the state’s achievements while working towards even greater milestones.
