A’Ibom Govt. Proposes 150 Billion Naira Supplementary Budget for Erosion Control and Critical Infrastructures

Akwa Ibom State Government has presented a memo for supplementary estimates of One Hundred and Fifty Billion Naira to aid in flood menace control and other critical infrastructure across the state.

The Commissioner for Information, Ini Ememobong who announced this, Thursday, while briefing Government House correspondents, shortly after an enlarged Executive Council meeting held at the Executive Chambers, Governor’s Office, Uyo, said the supplementary provisions, as presented by the Commissioner for Finance, has over fifty billion Naira as recurrent and over Ninety-Nine Billion naira as Capital expenditures respectively.

Comrade Ememobong said while a total of one hundred thousand bags of rice are to be distributed statewide to the two thousand, two hundred and seventy-two gazetted villages and other strategic groups, additional N2 billion for civil servants and pensioners to cover a period of three months, with Fridays declared as a ticket- free day for transport operators and traders in markets across the state, Payment of N10,000 Bursary to undergraduates of Akwa Ibom origin in all Public tertiary institutions in the country would also be captured in the palliative arrangement.

According to the Commissioner, an online infrastructure developed to enhance productivity and information security in the handling of government transactions and a report on the launch of AkwaGIS which has the capability for the acquisition, management, retrieval, analysis, and display of the state’s land records using an enterprise Geographical Information System were presented to the Council by the Senior Special Assistance to the Governor on ICT and Digital Services, Dr. Frank Ekpenyong.
