The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has condemned the freezing of the statutory allocations due to the local governments of Osun State, describing the action as “political terrorism” and accusing the Federal Government of using state institutions to intimidate the state ahead of the governorship election.
In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the party alleged that the withholding of funds was part of a broader strategy to undermine the Osun State Government through political intimidation.
The ADC claimed that the action threatens essential public services, including the payment of workers’ salaries, healthcare delivery, education, and rural infrastructure, arguing that the welfare of the people should not be sacrificed for political interests.
The party also alleged that the continued occupation of local government councils by unelected APC loyalists, the arrest of opposition figures, and the activities of armed political thugs backed by security agencies were part of a coordinated effort to destabilise the state.
Calling the situation a threat to democracy, the ADC urged the Federal Government to immediately restore all statutory allocations due to the local governments, end what it described as federal intimidation, and uphold constitutional order.
