The Allied Peoples Movement has adopted Bimbo Adekanmbi as its consensus governorship candidate for the 2027 election in Oyo State.
The adoption was ratified during the party’s governorship and legislative primaries held at the Watershed Event Centre in Ibadan.
Speaking at the event, the Oyo State Chairman of the APM, Adegbenro Fagbemi, said the alliance between the APM and the Peoples Democratic Party would strengthen political cooperation and deliver positive outcomes for Oyo State.
Adekanmbi, alongside the party’s senatorial, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly candidates, was formally presented to delegates and stakeholders, who endorsed them as consensus candidates.
Presenting certificates of return, Fagbemi described Adekanmbi as a bridge builder capable of sustaining ongoing development efforts and expanding good governance across the state.
In his acceptance speech, Adekanmbi pledged to continue the Omituntun development agenda initiated by Governor Seyi Makinde, assuring residents that his administration would prioritise security, infrastructure and inclusive development.
He called on party leaders, stakeholders and supporters to remain united, stressing that the future of Oyo State should take precedence over personal and political interests.
Adekanmbi also expressed appreciation to Governor Makinde for his support, friendship and contributions to the growth and democratic development of the state.
Several party leaders and stakeholders at the event urged residents to support APM candidates in the 2027 general elections.
Among those in attendance were Deputy Governor Bayo Lawal, Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly Adebo Ogundoyin, senior government officials, lawmakers, commissioners and local government chairmen.
