ADC Suspends South-South Vice Chairman Usani Usani Over Alleged Anti-Party Activities

Date:

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has suspended its National Vice Chairman (South-South), Usani Usani, over alleged violations of the party’s constitution and conduct deemed harmful to its unity and progress.

In a statement issued on Monday by the Cross River State chapter of the ADC and signed by its Publicity Secretary, James Otudor, the party said the decision followed resolutions reached during the State Working Committee (SWC) meeting held on October 15, 2025, in Calabar.

According to the statement, the committee reviewed multiple petitions and reports accusing Usani of anti-party activities, insubordination, and actions undermining the party’s image and cohesion.

“The decision was taken after extensive deliberations on a series of actions, utterances, and conduct by Dr. Usani which were found to be inconsistent with the provisions of the ADC constitution and grossly detrimental to the unity, discipline, and progress of the party both in Cross River State and across the South-South geopolitical zone,” the statement read.

The ADC said the suspension, which takes immediate effect, was carried out in accordance with the party’s constitution and disciplinary code, pending further investigation and disciplinary proceedings by the appropriate national organs.

The committee also expressed dissatisfaction with the appointment of Jackie Wayas as Deputy National Publicity Secretary, alleging a lack of consultation with state leadership prior to her selection.

“Her appointment was not made in the best interest of the party in Cross River State, and her loyalty appears skewed against the unity and growth of the ADC,” the committee stated, urging the national leadership to review and replace her with a “competent, credible, and media-savvy” member committed to the party’s ideals.

The statement further cautioned individuals within the coalition movement who have declared interest in joining the ADC but have yet to formalise their membership.

It directed all coalition leaders and intending members to complete their registration at ward level within seven days, warning that failure to comply would result in exclusion from leadership and decision-making activities within the party.

“The ADC will not tolerate dual membership or allow its platform to be exploited by individuals pursuing multiple partisan interests,” the statement added.
