Student Shot In Ebonyi Varsity SUG Election, Police Arrest Three

A student of Ebonyi State University was shot on Tuesday during the Students’ Union Government (SUG) election as results were being announced.

The Ebonyi State Police Command confirmed that:

  • Three suspects were arrested at the scene.
  • A locally made pistol was recovered.
  • The victim was rushed to the Federal University Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki, for treatment.

Police spokesperson SP Joshua Ukandu said the suspects fired a gunshot in an attempt to disperse the crowd during the collation of results. He added that the suspects remain in custody and will be arraigned after investigations.
