Date:

Former Super Eagles striker Brown Ideye has announced his retirement from professional football, concluding a career that spanned nearly two decades across multiple continents, including stints in England, Ukraine, Spain, Greece, and China.

Ideye, 36, who was part of Nigeria’s golden squad that lifted the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in South Africa, confirmed his decision via his social media accounts.

He expressed gratitude to his agents, coaches, teammates, and journalists who supported his football journey.

Between 2010 and 2016, Ideye represented Nigeria 28 times, scoring six goals. His most memorable moment came at the 2013 AFCON under the late coach Stephen Keshi, where he played a key role in helping the Super Eagles secure their third continental title.
