2027: ADC Not Pursuing a Northern Agenda, Says Spokesman

Date:

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has dismissed allegations that it is pursuing a political agenda favouring Nigeria’s northern region.

ADC spokesman Bolaji Abdullahi described the claims — made last month by former party presidential candidate Dumebi Kachikwu — as baseless and divisive.

“You see, it’s ridiculous to say the least, and he should be ashamed of himself,” Abdullahi said. “ADC is neither a party of the North nor of the South. It is neither a party of Muslims nor of Christians. It is deliberately designed to build the kind of future Nigeria desires.”

Kachikwu had alleged that the ADC, recently adopted by the opposition coalition for the 2027 elections, was part of a plot to return power to the North.

Abdullahi countered by highlighting the presence of key southern politicians in the party, stressing its national representation. He also accused the government of attempting to sow discord within the ADC but vowed the party would resist such moves.

Also speaking on the programme, coalition chieftain Mani Ibrahim dismissed Kachikwu’s remarks, stating: “He is not a member of our party, does not represent the ADC, and has no right to speak on its behalf.”
