Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has approved the appointment of Alhaji Abdulkadir Ibrahim Bello as the 16th Emir and Sarkin Katsina of the Gusau Emirate Council.
Alhaji Abdulkadir, the eldest son of the late Emir, His Royal Highness Ibrahim Bello, ascends the throne following his father’s passing on July 25, 2025, after ten years of distinguished service to the emirate.
The appointment was formally announced by the Secretary to the State Government, Abubakar Mohammad Nakwada, who stated that the selection was made in line with the recommendation of the Gusau Emirate kingmakers and in accordance with established customs and relevant legal provisions.
Prior to his appointment, the new monarch held the traditional title of Bunun Gusau.
Governor Lawal congratulated Alhaji Abdulkadir on his ascension and urged him to emulate the noble legacy of his forebears, particularly as a direct descendant of the revered Malam Sambo Dan Ashafa.
The governor further charged the new Emir to promote peace, unity, and development across the emirate, and to serve as a symbol of harmonious coexistence for the people of Zamfara and beyond.
