The Nasarawa State High Court in Lafia has admitted seven additional exhibits in the ongoing trial of Oluwatimileyin Daniels Ajayi, the 32-year-old accused of murdering female corps member Salome Adaidu.
At Tuesday’s hearing, Justice Simon Aboki received the new exhibits as prosecution counsel, Barr. Raymond Umaru, presented two police officers as fresh witnesses.
The first officer, from the Karshi Division, submitted a phone containing video evidence from the accused’s apartment, where six polythene bags with the victim’s remains and severed head were allegedly found. The second officer, from the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID), presented a cutlass, two knives, and the deceased’s handbag, which contained personal items such as her phone, clothes, toothbrush, body cream, shoes, and perfume.
After reviewing the exhibits, Justice Aboki adjourned the trial to March 19 for the defense to present its case.
Speaking after the hearing, the prosecution expressed confidence in the evidence presented, stating that it strengthens their case against the accused. The defense, on the other hand, assured the public that justice would be served.
The trial continues to draw significant attention as the court seeks to unravel the circumstances surrounding the gruesome murder of Salome Adaidu.
