DHL Cargo Plane Crashes Near Vilnius Airport, One Dead

A DHL cargo plane en route from Germany to Lithuania crashed early Monday morning near Vilnius Airport, claiming the life of one crew member.

According to Renatas Pozela, head of the firefighting and emergency services, the aircraft went down just a few kilometers from the airport.

The plane had four crew members on board, one of whom was confirmed dead at the scene.

The crash also set a nearby house ablaze under unclear circumstances. Fortunately, all residents were safely evacuated, as confirmed by the head of the National Crisis Management Centre, Vilmantas Vitkauskas.

DHL spokesperson Ausra Rutkauskien confirmed that the aircraft was operated by the logistics company.

Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the crash.
