Senate President Godswill Akpabio has called for enhanced collaboration between the Nigerian Parliament and its counterpart in China to deepen bilateral relations.
Speaking during a courtesy visit by the new Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai, Sen. Akpabio emphasized the need for stronger ties to capitalize on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent visit to China and the Forum on China/Africa Cooperation held earlier this year.
During the meeting, Akpabio urged Ambassador Yu Dunhai to continue fostering diplomatic and trade relations between both nations. He noted that Nigeria is keen to leverage China’s expertise and experience in key areas such as infrastructure development, trade, and technology. “We believe that a stronger partnership between our parliaments will yield immense benefits for both countries, especially in fostering mutual understanding and economic growth,” Sen. Akpabio stated.
The visit underscores the growing importance of Nigeria-China relations as both countries explore avenues for economic cooperation and development. Ambassador Yu Dunhai reaffirmed China’s readiness to work with Nigeria on projects that align with mutual interests, particularly in advancing infrastructural and economic initiatives.
