NIGERIA COMMITTED TO PARLIAMENTARY ALLIANCES FOR DEVELOPMENT ACROSS AFRICA AND ARAB – SEN. AKPABIO

President of the Senate Godswill Akpabio, has reaffirmed Nigeria’s dedication to fostering parliamentary collaboration through the Association of Senate, Shoora, and Equivalent Councils in Africa and the Arab World (ASSECAA). Speaking at the 11th Annual ASSECAA Retreat in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, Akpabio emphasized Nigeria’s longstanding commitment to the alliance, recalling the country’s pride in hosting the inaugural ASSECAA retreat in 2006.

Sen. Akpabio noted, “Nigeria has always valued ASSECAA as a pivotal platform for advancing parliamentary collaboration. We take pride in having hosted the inaugural ASSECAA retreat in 2006 and have remained committed to this alliance, firmly believing in the power of cooperation to drive development across Africa and the Arab world.”

Under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Akpabio highlighted that Nigeria continues to play a leading role in promoting parliamentary diplomacy and intergovernmental cooperation.

Commenting on this year’s retreat theme, “Strengthening the Joint Parliamentary Action of the Global South Countries to Face Environmental, Technological, and Development Challenges,” Akpabio described it as timely and crucial for addressing pressing global issues.
