JAMB PROMOTES EQUAL ACCESS TO HIGHER EDUCATION FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES.

Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has reaffirmed its dedication to ensuring equal access to higher education, particularly for individuals with disabilities.

JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, highlighted this commitment during a news briefing in Abuja ahead of the First African Regional Conference on Equal Opportunity of Access to Higher Education.

With the theme Advancing the Potentials of Persons with Disabilities in Educational and Economic Development, the conference aims to improve access to higher education for persons with disabilities and enhance the learning environment in tertiary institutions across Africa.

Prof. Oloyede emphasized that education is a fundamental human right and described the conference as a platform to address challenges while exploring innovative solutions to bridge gaps in educational access for persons with disabilities.

He further stressed the importance of harnessing the talents and contributions of persons with disabilities to shape the future of society.

The regional conference, scheduled for September 17th and 18th, will gather participants from several African nations, including Ethiopia, Malawi, and Egypt, to discuss strategic initiatives aimed at promoting inclusivity in the education sector.
