Fire Ravages 7-Storey Building in Lagos Island

Date:

A devastating fire broke out early Friday morning, engulfing a 7-story building on Sanni Adewale Street in Lagos Island, Lagos State. The building, which housed several shops, saw items worth millions of naira destroyed in the blaze.

The fire reportedly started around 5:17 a.m., causing widespread panic as residents fled the area. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported as of now.

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, led by Director Margaret Adeseye, responded swiftly to the emergency. Firefighters from the Ebute Elefun, Sari, and Lekki 1 stations were dispatched and arrived on the scene by 5:33 a.m.

Adeseye noted that ventilation efforts are currently ongoing to ensure the safety of those in the vicinity. Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire was caused by an electrical surge.
