“Let’s Build Nigeria, Shun Protest” — Senate President Appeals to Nigerians

Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has called on Nigerians, particularly the youths of the South-South and South-East regions, to avoid participating in the planned nationwide protest.

He urged them to engage in constructive dialogue with the Federal Government to address the nation’s challenges.

In an exclusive interview with ADBN News upon his return from Port Harcourt, where he attended an NNDC Executive Management Conference, Senator Akpabio emphasized the need for unity and nation-building.

He highlighted President Bola Tinubu’s significant achievements within his first year in office, noting that these accomplishments surpass what previous administrations have done for the South-South and South-East regions.

Senator Akpabio stated that now is the time to build the nation rather than hinder its development.

A new scheme was launched at the NDDC Management Conference in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital to support the region’s youth. This initiative will provide N50,000 monthly to unemployed youths until they secure gainful employment.

The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Benjamin Kalu, also appealed to the youth, urging them not to be used to destabilize the country. He encouraged them to renew the nation’s hope for equitable economic growth and socio-cultural renewal.

Young Nigerians had planned to commence a 10-day nationwide protest on August 1, demanding a reversal of certain government policies that have led to Nigeria’s worst cost of living crisis in a generation.
