Senate has granted an additional two months to the Committee investigating the total sum of N30 trillion naira in ways and means facilities provided to the federal government by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) between 2014 and 2023.
The Senate, last Thursday, granted a two-month extension to the Ad-Hoc Committee tasked with intensifying its probe exercise.
Chairman of the Ad-Hoc Committee and APC Representative for Kogi East, Senator Isah Jibrin, had requested additional time, citing awaited crucial information from relevant agencies involved in the monetary spending.
Senator Jibrin, who also Chairs the Senate Committee on Customs and Excise Duties, emphasized the importance of the two-month extension granted by the Senate, stating it would allow the committee to intensify its probe effectively.
It would be recalled that the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio urged the Committee Members to conduct a thorough investigation without overlooking any details.
The Committee has assured of intensified efforts in ensuring thorough and conclusive investigation into the ways and means of the facility utilized by former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration between 2015 and 2023.
