The National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Emeka Rollas, has confirmed the tragic passing of Nollywood actor John Paul Odonwodo, famously known as Junior Pope.
Rollas announced that Thursday, April 11, has been designated as “No Shoot Day” for all Nollywood filmmakers to pay tribute to Pope and the three crew members who lost their lives in a boat accident on the Anam River in Anambra on Wednesday.

Initially denying reports of Pope’s demise, Rollas later corrected his statement on Instagram, expressing deep sorrow over the loss and revealing unsuccessful attempts to revive him.
He announced the indefinite suspension of all film shoots involving riverine areas and boats, including the halted production of “The Other Side of Life,” directed by Adamma Luke.
Rollas also prohibited actors from collaborating with Luke until further notice, as search efforts continued for the remaining crew members.
Junior Pope, who commenced his acting journey in 2006, gained widespread recognition for his roles in more than 150 movies, notably “Secret Adventures,” earning numerous accolades for his remarkable performances.
