50 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in Edo State in the last 24 hours

Fifty new confirmed cases of Coronavirus have been recorded in Edo state, in the last 24 hours.

Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health Osamwonyi Irowa who disclosed this to journalists in Benin City said twelve patients confirmed with the disease have been successfully treated and discharged during the same period.

According to the breakdown, the total number of Covid 19 cases in the state has increased to 740, with 425 active cases, 295 recoveries, and 21 deaths since the outbreak of the pandemic in the second wave.

The permanent secretary expressed concern at the rate of community spread and the rising number of infected persons in the State.

Doctor Irowa appealed to citizens to observe the designed protocol already being implemented by the State Government.

He called on Edo citizens to present themselves for early tests and avoid giving false details to health personnel.

The permanent secretary ministry of health disclosed that the state government is interfacing with heads of schools to do all it takes for school resumption on February first.
