An Oyo State High Court in Ibadan on Friday sentenced Yemi Adeola and Femi Adeyemo, to death for armed robbery.
Delivering judgment, Justice Omolara Adeyemi, held that the prosecution has proven its case beyond the reasonable doubt.
“I hereby find them guilty as charged and sentence them to death,” she said.
The Prosecution Counsel, Mrs Seun Ademola-Salami, told the court that the convicts and others at large, on Nov. 27, 2018, at House 2, Dende Bovas Garage, off Iyana Eku, Larodo, Ibadan conspired to commit felony with armed robbery.
This, she said, contravened the provisions of Section 6(b) of the Robbery and Firearms Acts, laws of federation, 2010.
She said the convicts attempted to attack and rob Akinyemi Olanrewaju of his cell phone worth N5,000, N150,000 cash and recharge cards.
The offence, she said, is punishable under Section 5(2) of the Robbery and Firearms laws, 2010.
