Abuja, Nigeria – The Team New Nigeria (TNN) movement has formally applied to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for registration as a political party, positioning itself as a fresh alternative to Nigeria’s existing political order.
TNN President Modibbo Yakubu Farakwai announced the development in Abuja on Sunday, declaring the group’s readiness to introduce a new era of democratic governance built on justice, inclusivity, and national rebuilding.
Farakwai revealed that TNN has established structures across all 774 local government areas, 36 states, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), with a reported membership of over 43 million Nigerians. The group has intensified mobilization efforts in key states, including Rivers, Bauchi, Benue, Lagos, and Kano.
“INEC has acknowledged our application—a major milestone in Nigeria’s political evolution,” Farakwai stated. “We urge Nigerians to enroll in the ongoing voter registration, as their participation will shape the nation’s future.”
The movement has already drafted a constitution, manifesto, and party symbols, which were publicly presented in Kano on March 1, 2025. Under its motto “Unite and Rebuild the Nation” and slogan “Greater Nigeria,” TNN has formed specialized committees to oversee its transition into a full-fledged party, covering legal compliance, strategy, and mobilization.
TNN will host a National Conference on April 5, 2025, in Abuja to formally unveil its policy agenda. The event will gather state and local government chairpersons, national executives, and stakeholders to solidify its vision for transformative governance.
Farakwai issued a clarion call for citizens to reject what he termed “the old order of corruption and incompetence,” pledging that TNN would prioritize accountability and prosperity. “We are not just another party but a movement to restore hope,” he affirmed.
