Senate President, Sen. Akpabio Urges Committee to Monitor Revenue Agencies to Avert Leakages

President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio has directed the committee on finance to embark on aggressive scrutiny of revenue-generating agencies with a view to curbing leakages in the country.

Senator Akpabio specifically directed the panel to scrutinize the remittances of the agencies and government-owned enterprises to ensure that all revenues generated are properly deposited into the federation account.

The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance, Senator Sani Musa, who disclosed this in a statement in Abuja, said his panel was asked to ensure that all remittances were done in accordance with the provisions of the Fiscal Responsibility Act.

Sani, who pledged that his committee would carry out the directive of the Senate President with diligence and all sense of responsibility, noted that the country cannot afford to lose any revenue at the moment.
