Despite the confusion in the State House of Assembly, the Executive Council of Rivers State has approved a Budget proposal of N800bn for the 2024 Fiscal Year.
Recall that 27 Lawmakers in the State have defected from the People’s Democratic Party, PDP to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
The Information Commissioner, Joe Johnson, who briefed newsmen after the Council Meeting alongside the Secretary to the State Government, said the proposal tagged, ‘Budget of Renewed Hope, Consolidation, and Continuity’, was debated with the medium-term expenditure framework, as presented by the Commissioner for Finance, Isaac Kamalu.
The Commissioner identified infrastructure, education, health, and security as the areas with the highest budgetary votes.
On his part, Secretary to the State Government, Tammy Danagogo, said the budget proposal is aimed at giving new hope to the people and consolidating the gains of the State, especially in infrastructure and human capital developments.
