Prince Harry and Meghan Conclude Nigeria Tour with Lagos Visit

Date:

Prince Harry and Meghan have wrapped up their three-day tour of Nigeria, aimed at promoting the Invictus Games for injured military veterans. The royal couple’s final stop was Lagos, the nation’s commercial hub.
Beginning their journey in Abuja, the capital of Nigeria, on Friday, Prince Harry and Meghan engaged in various activities throughout their tour. They visited wounded Nigerian soldiers in the northwest and attended a school event focused on mental health.
On the last day of their trip, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex participated in a basketball game organized by the Giants of Africa Foundation in Lagos. Prince Harry emphasized the transformative power of sports in his interactions with the young participants.

Reflecting on their experience, the couple attended a fundraising event in Lagos and met with Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos State. Governor Sanwo-Olu remarked on Prince Harry’s profound observations during his time in Nigeria.

Meghan also took part in an event for women in leadership alongside Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, director of the World Trade Organization and a Nigerian native. Expressing gratitude for the warm reception, Meghan spoke about her Nigerian heritage and her ongoing journey of discovery.

During their visit to Abuja, Prince Harry joined Nigerian veterans in a sitting volleyball match, including former soldier Peacemaker Azuegbulam, who triumphed at the Invictus Games in Germany.

Prince Harry’s presence in Nigeria coincided with the 10th-anniversary celebrations of the Invictus Games in London. Despite rumors surrounding his family reconciliation, Prince Harry did not meet with his father, King Charles, during this trip.
