President Muhammadu Buhari has unveiled the Federal Capital Territory Mega Rice Pyramid in Abuja.
The one million paddy rice stacked in a fifteen separate pyramid is in collaboration with the Central Bank of Nigeria and the Rice Farmer’s Association of Nigeria.
In attendance are the Five State Governors including Ekiti, Kayode Fayemi; Kebbi, Atiku Bagudu; Cross River, Ben Ayade; Ebonyi, David Umayi and that of Jigawa, Abubakar Badaru and other top Government officials.
The Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi says the goal of increase in production is to ensure that rice is affordable for families across the country.
Meanwhile the Central Bank Governor Godwin Emiefiele highlights the score card of the anchors borrowers programme saying the initiative alliance with economic diversification efforts of the Government through the creation of more jobs, he says the project will prevent scarcity of rice.
