Tigrayan forces say Mekelle, the capital of the war-torn Tigray region in northern Ethiopia, has been hit by an airstrike for a second time this week.

Kinda Gebrehiwot, a member of the Tigray People’s Liberation Front’s central committee, tweeted about the airstrike being carried out in the city.

Residents have also confirmed the attack, but the federal government has not said anything about the reported attack.

The Ethiopian air force carried out two airstrikes on Monday, saying it targeted the communication infrastructure used by the TPLF.

The report has it that, the traditional rulers from the area numbering over 20 were in a meeting at the local government headquarters in the community when gunmen invaded the place and interrupted the meeting with sporadic gunshots.

When contacted, the Imo state police public relations officer, Mike Abatam, confirmed that only two traditional rulers had died while three others were in a coma, as against the report of five of the traditional rulers being killed.

Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma, while speaking on television, condemned the killings and promised to bring the perpetrators to book.

It seems like the security operatives are not resting their oars in their fight against insecurity in the Country as the Kaduna State Government says no fewer than 50 bandits have been killed by a combined team of security officials during an operation in Birnin Gwari local government area of the state.

The bandits were neutralized during an operation carried out by both the ground and air assault in the Saulawa-Farin Ruwa axis of Birnin Gwari local government area.

According to the Kaduna State Commissioner for internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, a Nigerian Air Force helicopter gunship provided close air support to ground troops advancing from the Dogon-Dawa-Damari-Saulawa axis.

The Commissioner further said that armed bandits on about 50 motorcycles were sighted fleeing towards Farin Ruwa, and were struck effectively by the gunship while fleeing remnants were mopped up by ground forces.

As Nigerians remember the fallen heros in the ENDSARS Protest, the former Senate President of Nigeria, Dr Bukola Saraki, has urged Nigerians not to ever forget the #EndSARS protest that rocked the nation last year.

In a statement issued by the former senate president, Saraki while marking the first anniversary of the sad incident, he said that his thoughts and prayers are with those who lost their lives, loved ones, sustained injuries, or sustained other losses at the Lekki Toll Gate.

The protest which lasted for days was staged by Nigerian youths due to incessant police brutality meted out to them.

On this day last year, it was reported that there was a mass shooting of the protesters at the Lekki Toll Gate, Lagos, by personnel of the Nigerian Army, which led to the loss of lives.

Former Nigerian stars Daniel Amokachi and Mercy Akide have been appointed to the International Football Association Board’s football advisory panel.

Amokachi and Akide are among a group of seven people that also included ex-Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger added to the panel.

IFAB, who are responsible for the laws of the football game, took to their Twitter account to announce their new members, saying the new members will be introduced officially in the next few days.
