The Oyo State House of Assembly has impeached Deputy Governor, Rauf Olaniyan over strong allegations of misconduct.
The house came to the decision after the lawmakers presented and considered the recommendation of the seven-man panel arranged by the Chief Judge, Munta Abimbola to investigate the Deputy Governor over allegations of severe misconduct and abuse of office.
According to the assembly, the impeachment takes place with immediate effect.
The seven-man panel found Rauf Olaniyan guilty of all allegations levelled against him according to the report presented during the plenary by Hon. Sanjo Adedyin, the Majority leader of the house.
Olaniyan was elected into office with Governor Seyi Makinde in 2019 with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but his relationship with the governor declined over time.
Their relationship deteriorated further when the Deputy Governor abandoned PDP and decamped to the All Progressive Congress.
