Nigerian Senate Urges Stronger Ties With Germany To Boost National Security

President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has called for enhanced collaboration with Germany in security and power sectors during a meeting with German Ambassador Annette Gunther.

Akpabio emphasized the robust relationship between the two nations and expressed the desire for Germany to play a more active role in resolving the global crisis.

Akpabio urged increased German investment in Nigeria and raised concerns about the recent deportation of 12 thousands illegal Nigerians, citing potential security implications as he requested Germany’s Cooperation in identifying genuine Nigerian immigrants among them.

In her response, Ambassador Gunther assured Nigeria of Germany’s commitment to overcoming security and power challenges highlighting the siemens’ energy project as a potential contribution to improving electricity in Nigeria.
