The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) command in Kaduna says it nabbed 761 alleged drug traffickers and users and collected 11,000kg of illicit substances between January and August.
Umar Adoro, NDLEA commander in Kaduna, told journalists on Monday in Kaduna that 725 of the people arrested were male and the 36 others female.
He revealed that while 610 of the accused were drug users, 480 were counselled, rehabilitated, and reintegrated into society.
“We arraigned 151 of the suspects; secured the conviction of 69 of them, while 82 are still awaiting trial,” Umar said.
The drugs confiscated, according to him, are Indian hemp, cocaine, heroin, and other psychoactive substances, methamphetamine, and tramadol.
Mr. Adoro stated that the fight against illegal drugs is a shared responsibility and urged the public to provide the NDLEA with timely information that could lead to arrests and seizures.
The commander further promised to continue the fight against drug trafficking and consumption in Kaduna state until it is won.
